Compass calibration and safe use
Move the phone slowly in a figure-eight pattern, then hold it flat away from magnets, vehicles, speakers, metal tables and power cables. Compare north with a known landmark or a proper compass before relying on it.
Some phones do not contain a magnetometer. When available, GPS heading can provide direction while you are moving, but it will not reliably show direction while standing still.

Frequently asked questions
How does hybrid translation work?
When you are online, the app uses the protected online translation service for the best result. When offline, it uses a downloaded phrase pack for supported common travel phrases.
Do I need to download anything?
Yes. Choose your languages in the translator and press Download offline pack while connected. The pack is stored on this device.
Will every sentence work offline?
No. The first offline version covers common travel, accommodation, food, directions, help and emergency phrases. Longer or unusual sentences need the online service.
Why is the microphone not working offline?
Some browsers send speech recognition to an online service. You can still type the phrase offline, and spoken playback will work when your device has a suitable installed voice.
Are recordings saved?
The app only starts listening after you press Speak. The app does not intentionally store microphone recordings. Browser speech services may have their own privacy terms.
Why can the translation sound different?
Phone voices vary by device and installed language. Downloading the matching system voice can improve pronunciation and offline playback.
Can I use it for emergencies?
It can help with basic communication, but do not rely on automatic translation for critical medical or safety details. Call 999 or 112 where appropriate.
How do I remove an offline pack?
Use your browser or app storage settings to clear Adventure Builder site data. A dedicated pack manager will be added as more offline languages become available.
